Veronica Jill Blumhorst was born on September 4, 1969. Veronica was adopted by Paul and Betty Blumhorst at approximately the age of five months. She was raised in Mendota, Illinois along with her older sister Carolyn and younger brother Todd. Growing up, Veronica had to overcome several large obstacles. She had to wear leg supports to aid her to walk, after some time she managed to not need the braces that held her up. It was also discovered that Veronica had a learning disability. When she was in the sixth grade she was transferred to public schools where special education was available. After years of very hard work she was finally able to enroll into mainstream classes her senior year of high school, breaking free of another obstacle. After graduating high school, Veronica started working full time in a local grocery store. She was a very friendly person who enjoyed life and someone who was liked by everyone that knew her.
In the early hours of September 20, 1990, Veronica left her job telling a coworker that she was exhausted and going straight to bed when she arrived at home. The next morning her car was found in the garage, however Veronica was nowhere to be found. After an exhaustive search, she was never located. The police investigation found a suspect who had made statements that indicated Veronica had been murdered, possibly by accident. The suspect claimed memory lapses and seemed to taunt the police by telling them that if he did do it, he was smart enough to dispose of the body in a way they would never find it. To this day, Veronica has never been found. It is presumed that Veronica was murdered on September 20, 1990.
In 2004 her name was added to a memorial wall for homicide victims at Children's Memorial Park in Tucson, Arizona where her brother is involved with Homicide Survivors.
