Liam James Fisher, infant son of Brian and Jo Ann Fisher, died November 17, 2008.
Surviving in addition to his parents are loving sisters, Isabelle and Jessica; and grandparents, Bill and Debbie Fisher, and Dale and Sandra Welborn, all of Piedmont. Predeceased was his maternal grandfather, Joseph Surrett.
A memorial mass will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at the Catholic Church of St. Luke, Easley. The family will receive friends and relatives following the mass.

Hello everyone. My name is Liam James Fisher and I was born on April 03, 2007 in Greenville, SC. I live with my family Brian and Jo Ann and my big sisters Isabelle and Jessica.
On Dec. 11, 2007 I was diagnosed with A.L.L. (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia)by my pediatrician Michelle Lynch, M.D. and the oncologists here at Children's Hospital when I was only 8 1/2 months old.
I spent a week in the PICU at Children's Hospital in Greenville, SC. as I was very sick. On my third day in the PICU I had a Broviac central line cathereter put into my chest. On Sun. I was moved to a regular room to continue chemotherapy treatments that will last for the next two years. At the beginning of Feb.we were told that I am in remission. Although, I will need chemotherapy and other support drugs for 2 years to keep the leukemia cells from coming back. I get packed red blood cells and platelets several times a month to restore the blood cells that the cehmo drugs destroy. My hair (the little bit I had) is now mostly gone, and my skin gets broken down from the high dose chemo. But, my baby skin always heals back up nicely, and my daddy says I'm getting back some peach fuzz on my little softie head.
I have weekly visits to the PHOC clinic to check my blood counts and have been hospitalized approx. 2 weeks out of the month (every month) for either spinal taps w/chemo, just chemo, or mysterious fevers and infections. PLEASE pray for me and my family as we have a long journey to endure and we cannot do it without the intercessory prayers of our family, friends, and even good people who have never met me. I love visits from my family and friends. My Nana says she loves to come visit her precious Liam and get her daily blessing from God.
My mama says don't let life's troubles get you down, just take it to the CROSS.
Jesus can get you through anything, HE has brought us safe thus far.

Liam was diagnosed as relapsed on July 16, 2008. He went through several relapse protocols to try and get him into remission. Relapsed ALL calls for a automatic Bone Marrow Transplant. Belle our oldest child is Liam's 10/10 perfect match. We are in Charleston, SC @ MUSC for the BMT process. Although the chemo didn't get Liam into remission we have gone forward with radiation, chemo, and the BMT. We are fully trusting GOD and GOD alone to engraft Liam with Belle's bone marrow, rid his body of every single leukemic blast cell and cure Liam of leukemia forever.

Hello Everyone,
Brian, Belle, Jessie, Liam, and myself would like to thank each individual, family, and church for all the prayers that were sent to heaven on Liam's and our behalf.
This morning at 10 am Liam passed away in my arms as I was holding him in the clinic. We took him in this morning to be checked out and to get blood and platelets . Due to a breathing issue last night, we thought his hemoglobin was low. We also thought his platelets were low because of his increased bleeding. Turns out his platelets were 33,000 (not critically low) his Hgb was 6.1, and his WBC was 155,000.
So he was in need of red blood and platelets. But Liam passed away while waiting on the blood products. Apparently the doctors were right in that they believe his WBC had been dropping due to the leukemia blast cells concentrating in his liver. Therefore his peripheral blood was not showing all the leukemia cells that were really present in his whole body.
We want everyone to know that Liam passed away in a peaceful, pain free manner. We would like to thank the staff at the Pediatric Hem/Onc Clinic at GHS for their unwavering love and support during the past 11 months since Liam's diagnosis. And we extend this to the entire staff of The Children's Hospital in Greenville and at MUSC. These two hospitals have the BEST nurses, doctors, and child life staff in the country.
And a very special thanks to Dr. Ben Jones (Psych. D.) and Father Bart Leon for being there today with Brian and I as Liam slipped away from us. You'll never know how each one of you gentlemen made the transition of Liam leaving his earthly home to go to his Forever home easier for us. You sirs had been helping us to prepare ourselves for a long while now.
Thank you also to every one who has made this journey easier for Isabelle and Jessica. They LOVED their little brother and are very sad at his passing. PLEASE when you finish reading this go hug your children, be slow to anger, live each day as Christ intended for us all. Live with Jesus in your heart and spread the Gospel to the four corners of the earth.
You never know what tomorrow will bring. And you can't get back what was spent yesterday.
