Timothy "Timmy" David Belcher Jr., 16, has won the ultimate victory. He has shed his earthly life for eternal life in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born on Feb. 7, 1995, in Iredell County, he was a sophomore at North Iredell High School. Timmy was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in States-ville, where he was involved in every facet of the youth of Calvary Baptist. His involvement with Relay for Life in Iredell County spanned the past six years. He was one of its chief supporters and was active in Relay's many community awareness events. An avid North Carolina Tarheel basketball fan, he had grown a loving relationship with Coach Roy Williams, who took a great interest in Timmy's life. Timmy had wanted to learn to fly and was granted that wish many times over as he took the controls to take off and sail the skies. He did not fly solo until Friday morning, July 8, 2011, when he flew nonstop to heaven. He was preceded by his maternal great-grand-parents, Virgil and Kathrine Emery; his paternal great-grand-parents, Lee and Lillian Baughman Williams; his maternal great-great-grandparents, Robert and Ruth Weatherman and paternal great-grandparents, Harold and Luvella Belcher, and his long-time friend Adam Braddy. Survivors include his parents, Timothy David Sr. and Jodi Gray Weatherman Belcher, as well as a brother and sister, Adam Thomas and Lily Kate Belcher of the home; his grandparents, Karen and Lloyd Weatherman of Statesville, and Doug and Luella Belcher of Keystone, W.Va.; two aunts, Deia Weatherman of Hendersonville, and Tina Farmer of Keystone, W.Va.; two uncles, Ronald Fox of Walnut Cove, and Doug Belcher Jr. of Keystone, W.Va. Timmy had tons of great aunts and uncles, cousins and special friends. Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Statesville on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at Calvary Baptist on Sunday, July 10, at 4 p.m. with the Revs. Chris Haizlip and Daniel Maines officiating. Burial will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church cemetery. Coty Johnson, Dakota Marlow, Jacob Crater, Khalil Campbell, Tommy Barrett, James Paugette, Clint Patterson and Ian McCarthy will serve as pallbearers.
