Age 100 - Rockledge - Yetta B. Elkins, age 100, passed away peacefully June 6, 2010. Born in Austria on Feb. 12, 1910 to Joseph and Helen Buchsbaum, Yetta was one of 7 children. At 3 years old, she came to the U.S. and settled in New Jersey. There she met Larry Elkins; they married in 1929 and raised 3 children: daughter, Roslyn (Joe) Kettyle, son, Mike (Jani) Elkins and son, Jerald (Carole) Elkins. Yetta devoted her life to her husband, children and was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. In 1975, Yetta and Larry retired to Lauderdale Lakes, FL where they enjoyed dancing, golfing, and traveling. Always creative, Yetta was an award winning painter, known also for her Florida seashell crafts and crocheting. She was a member of Hadassah and Bnai Brith Women. She and Larry were married for 70 years until he passed away in 2000. In 2004, she moved to Rockledge, FL to live with her son, Mike and daughter-in-law, Jani. She was a constant in the lives of her local step-great-grandchildren, Will and Crystal Schultz, who knew her as "their GiGi". Yetta was full of stories, even in her last days, regaling us with tales of what it was like to be a young woman at the turn of the century. She was the glue that held together many branches of her family. Yetta will be greatly missed, especially by her beloved sister, Gussie Ziskand, 96 of Sarasota, FL. Gussie and Yetta recently celebrated their mile stone birthdays together at Patrick Air Force Base with 60 members of their family and friends. The family thanks Courtenay Springs Nursing Home for their loving care of Yetta. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 11 at Star of David Memorial Gardens, 7701 Bailey Road, N.
