Melissa was a dear friend, daughter, and sister, who was born June 3, 1987, at University Hospital in Augusta. She grew up in North Augusta, S.C., where she attended Holy Trinity Kindergarten and Hammond Hills Elementary School. She played softball, basketball and was active in Jazzercize, gymnastics and swimming. She loved her trampoline and her Barbie car. She became quite the swimmer and swam for Hammond Hills swim team, ASL and GAS. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in North Augusta. She later moved with her family to Martinez, where she attended Stevens Creek Elementary School. She was quite the good student there and later at Riverside Middle School. She attended Lakeside High School and participated in JV basketball, cheerleading and later Varsity Competition Cheer, where she competed in two state championships. She was a swimmer at LHS as well. She was active in youth group and a member of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. She was assistant swim team coach at Petersburg Racket Club for four years. She loved her swim kids, bunnies, kitties and dogs. She was a junior at Georgia Southern University and was scheduled to graduate in Spring of 2009, majoring in nutrition. She was Executive Council and served as Pan Hellenic Delegate for Kappa Delta Sorority. Melissa was always a bouncy, smiling girl who loved pink. She loved her dog, Molly, who traveled with her everywhere. She loved country music and dancing and was absolutely gorgeous. She was a graduate of Social Cotillion and loved dancing and was quite good at it. Melissa just loved life and everyone, and everyone loved her. She is survived by her sister, Megan Eustice of Macon; her mother and father, Jill and Gil Eustice of Franklin, Tenn.; her grandmother, Mary Glenn Averitt of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; one aunt, Suzanne Mendell of Oriental, N.C.; three uncles, David Eustice of Austin, Texas, Tommy Eustice and Robert Averitt of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; her boyfriend, Zack Bentley and her shih tzu, Molly. The three Kappa Delta sorority sisters to include Melissa and her friends Jamie Lynn Carter ; and Jessica Fulmer were driving back from an engagement party in Atlanta Sunday on I-16, was side-swiped by a white ford and lost their lives in a tragic accident after their suv flipped several times.
