BELMONT - Heather Ann Scruggs, 26, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 14, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center – Main.
A native of Mecklenburg County, she is the daughter of Barbara Reilly Scruggs and the late Edward Ray Scruggs.
Heather was a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church. She graduated from North Gaston High School and was an active member of Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council. Her pride and joy was her son "Matt-Man" whom she loved above all things.
In addition to her mother, Heather is survived by her son, Matthew James, sister, Emily Scruggs and brother, E. J. Scruggs all of Belmont, grand-mother, Martha Reilly of Bethesda, MD, grandfather, Ray Scruggs of Salisbury, thirteen Aunts and Uncles, twenty two cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Dennis Joseph Reilly III and grandmother, Frances Scruggs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church with Father Frank Cancro officiating.
Inurnment will be private at Gaston Memorial Park.
