NEWPORT NEWS - William "Bill" Young Allen Jr., was called home by Jesus Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002. A native of Salisbury, N.C., he had been a Peninsula resident for the past 70 years.
Mr. Allen retired in 1986 from A & P Grocery Stores as an assistant manager with 37 years of service and was a Staff Sgt. in the Air Force serving during the Korean War.
He was a member of Tabernacle Church. He enjoyed golf and working with his hands and could create just about anything.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Novella "Lou" Allen; his three daughters, Kim Allen of Hampton, Tonya Cain and her husband, Robert, of Newport News, and Terry Toloenaere and her husband, Robert, of Hampton; his sister, Jewell Crickenberger of Charlevoix, Mich.; and his grandchildren, Kristin and Kasie Cain, both of Newport News.
