15th Battalion.
Son of Charles and Catherine O'Brien, of Anlough, Glencar, Co. Kerry.
His exact age is a matter of some conjecture, as it would appear that his birth was not registered.
He enlisted on 28 January 1915, at Montreal, and was assigned to the 25th Battalion, later the 15th Battalion.
He stated that he was born on 5 February 1873, at Killorglin, Co. Kerry. [no birth registered for this period]
He was a Bushman, single,
He named Michael O'Brien of Killorglin, Co. Kerry as his Next of Kin [later amended to A.O. D. Police, Bramley, Hants].

On 28 October 1917, he was admitted to 8th Canadian Field Ambulance with Bomb Wounds to his Left Arm [Shrapnel below elbow] and Wrist [Fracture]. Later that day he was sent to a Clearing Station, before being sent to a General Hospital at Rouen, from where he was transferred to Oxford and Epsom.
Records seem to indicate that he was discharged on 7 January 1918.
It is unclear if this "Discharge" was from the Convalescent Hospital at Epsom, or was from the Army completely.
He travelled home to Kerry, and died two weeks later
