Mary Alice Casey, 100, of Carbondale, died Saturday morning in the Carbondale Nursing Home. Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Thomas and Alice Loftus Casey, she celebrated her 100th birthday Aug. 15. She was one of the oldest members of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, and was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and Marywood College. She was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a dietitian in New Zealand. Before retirement, she worked as a research dietitian at the Brookings Institute, Washington, D.C., and was also the proprietor of Evergreen Antiques, Honesdale. There are no immediate survivors. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Harold Casey and Thomas Casey. The funeral will be Wednesday, with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. There will be no calling hours. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Arrangements by the Brennan and Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale.
