John Bubernick, of Clifford Twp., died Tuesday at home. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday in July. Born in Simpson, son of the late Alexis L. and Evidoyka Repasky Buberniak, he was a member of St. Basil's Orthodox Church in America, Simpson. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, where he served in various positions, including mechanic and baker. Before retirement, he was employed as a truck driver for Jermyn Mill and Grain Co. After retirement, he was employed as a driver for National Auto, Clifford Twp. John was a connoisseur of fine homemade wine, and he enjoyed making his homemade crafts, including beer, spirits and wine. John could make something out of nothing and he was an excellent handyman who was able to fix anything. He also liked to cook and he enjoyed baking. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Kravetsky and Olga Buberniak; and two brothers, Paul and Dennis Buberniak. The funeral will be Saturday, with services at 9:30 a.m. in St. Basil's Orthodox Church in America, 7 Lord Ave., Simpson. Entombment with military honors, St. Tikhon's Mausoleum, South Canaan. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Jones & Brennan Funeral Home, 430 Main St., Forest City. Parastas will be held at 7:30 p.m. All those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church.
