Jennie Bordinaro, 101, Carbondale, passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, at the Carbondale Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Pittston, daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte Licata Bordinaro, Jennie graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1937. During her illustrious nursing career, she served in Europe during World War II and received a Wartime Certificate of Service Award from the government. She spent many years caring for the sick in our local hospitals. She loved to travel with her cousins and friends, and enjoyed bus trips across America to California. She also enjoyed her trips to New York for Christmas and vacations. Jennie had a soft, gentle and cheerful personality and a wonderful sense of humor. She laughed easily and was endeared to all who met her. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Mantione; and cousins, Francis Consagra, Genevieve Migliore, Mary Consagra, Josephine Consagra, Joseph Consagra and his son, Francis; Charles Consagra, Nellie Fricchione, Frank and Patty Consagra; and daughter, Barb Consagra. A memorial Mass will be on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale, with interment to follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery Finch Hill.
