Clorene was the wife of Lawrence Joseph Ochs. They were married on Sept. 12, 1939.

Clorene M. Ochs, 88, of Ste Marie, died at 3:24 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. Friday and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with Fr. Barry Harmon celebrating mass. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ste. Marie. Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ochs was born on December 1, 1917, near Ste. Marie, the daughter of Frank and Sophia (Hoffman) Helregel. She married Lawrence Ochs on September 12, 1939 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ste. Marie. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2005.

She was a farmer's wife and a homemaker all her life. She was the happiest in her kitchen and making quilts for her family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Ladies CCW, Jasper County Farm Bureau and Ste. Marie American Legion Auxiliary.

Mrs. Ochs is survived by her sons, Ted Ochs and his wife, Susie of West Liberty and Joe Ochs and his wife, Elaine of Dundas; daughters, Anna Marie Thies and her husband, Louis of Effingham and Geny Smith of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Albert Helregel and his wife, Caroline of Loda, Walter Helregel and his wife, Donna of Pesotum and Dick Helregel and his wife, Kay of West Liberty; sisters, Louise Keller of West Liberty, Theresa Radke and her husband, Delmar of Springfield and Mary Ann Kuenstler and her husband, Dan of Claremont; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Lawrence Helregel; and son-in-law, James Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
