She was born January 4, 1914, in the Globe Area of Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Thomas H. Gragg and the late Minnie Coffey Gragg.
She was baptized into the Aaron Baptist Church in 1940. She enjoyed being a seamstress and artist.
Along with her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Damon Vance in 1999; a sister Guidna Gragg Dunlap; a brother, Hackett Gragg.
A very loving mother, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Winnie Baird, and her husband, Jim, of Newland; sons, Walter Thomas Vance, and his dear friend, Bobbie Biggs, of Newland, Willis Herriel Vance, and his wife, Ruth, of Marion, Wayne Edward Vance, and his wife, Debbie, of Newland; brother, Edward Gragg of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren, Christopher Arnett, Rhonda Arnett, Scott Vance, Tammy Gilbert, Jimmy Vance, Lacy Wheeler, Tommy Vance, Elijah Vance, Mark Reid; great grandchildren, Riley Vance, Regan Vance, Andrew Vance, Charlie Vance, Damon Charles Vance, and Jackson Charles Arnett.
Funeral services for Jane Gragg Vance will be conducted on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Aaron Baptist Church in Montezuma, NC with the Revs. Roger Wise and George Stockton officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery.
