Local Resident Stricken Saturday
The funeral of Mrs. Clara L. Hornbeck, 59, resident of this city since 1911, who died at 10:45 o'clock Saturday night at her home, 137 North Hamilton street, from a heart attack suffered earlier in the day, will be held Wednesday.
Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal church at 11 o'clock, with the Rev. Roland J. Bunten, rector, officiating. Burial will be in the Poplars Rural cemetery, Phillipsport, under the direction of George A. MacKengan (sp?).
Although Mrs. Hornbeck had been in poor health for several years, her death had not been expected. She was born in Summitville, July 16, 1880, the daughter of Elmer and Anna Green Lybolt.
She was educated in the Mt. Vernon district school. For a number of years, she had been a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church and was a past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the church. She also was a former president of the Parent-Teacher association of School No. 6.
Surviving are her husband, Furman J. Hornbeck; a son, Dr. Gordon R. Hornbeck of Peekskill; her mother, Mrs. Lybolt of Summittville; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Slade and Adaline L. Lybolt of Summittville, Mrs. Amanda Appleyard of Port Jervis and Mrs. Beatrice C. Cummings of Wurtsboro; six brothers, Clarence O., Everett Daniel and Earl Lybolt of Summittville, Raymond Vincent of Port Jervis, Arden Cowel of Avoca, Pa., and Jeremiah B. of this city, and one granddaughter, Barbara Claire Hornbeck.
