Mrs. Perta Bennett
Perta L. Bennett, daughter of Robert and Nancy Jane (Todd) Basinger, was born January 18, 1885 in Barry County, Missouri. She died at the home near Long Lane on July 28 at the age of 88 years, six months and 10 days. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
On May 29, 1904, she was united in marriage with Claud Edward Bennett at Long Lane and this union was blessed with five children.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Clifford (Claudia) Gaunt and Mrs. Gordon (Ruth) Miller, both of Buffalo; three sons: Gerald of Marne, Michigan, Floyd of Sanger, California and Cecil of Long Lane: one brother; Fred Basinger of Claremore, Okla.: one sister, Mrs. Alpha Woods of Breckenridge, Texas: 22 grandchildren: 45 Great-grandchildren and on great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 17, 1970 and by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 30, at 2 p.m. in the Montgomery Funeral Chapel with Chester King officiating. Music was by Vernon and Jo Ann Viets, who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Sundown." Escorts were: Bob Bennett, Bud Bennett, Ralph Bennett, Don Gaunt, Larry Gaunt, and Kenneth Lane. Interment was in Pisgah Cemetery under direction of the Montgomery Funeral Home of Buffalo.
