Professional Football Player. For eleven seasons (1970 to 1980), he played at the tight end position in the National Football League with the Washington Redskins, Houston Oilers and Baltimore Colts. He attended Howard High School in South Carolina and played collegiate football at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. Selected by Washington during the 11th round of the 1970 NFL Draft, he played in 145 career regular season NFL games. Alston was a contributor to Washington's NFC Championship Title in 1972.
