Professional Football Player. He was a member of Fordham University’s famed Seven Blocks of Granite defensive line. He played at Fordham from 1935-37. At Fordham, the Shenandoah, PA, native played by the name Al Babartsky but later shortened his last name because people frequently misspelled it. In his three years at Fordham, the Rams went 18-2-5 and finished his final season ranked No. 3 in the country. He played six years in the NFL with the Chicago Cardinals and Chicago Bears until 1947.
