Daughter of Joseph Merrill Davis and Opal M. (Shaw). Alva married Wallace Gerald Blair in Sulphur Springs, Hillsborough, FL on Dec. 17, 1949. They were the proud parents of 11 children and were married exactly 56 yrs 1 month at the time of Alva's passing.

Hartford, Connecticut -

Alva J. (Davis) Blair, 73, of Live Oak, FL, formerly of Stagecoach Rd., Granby, beloved wife of Wallace G. Blair passed away Tuesday (January 17, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Williston, FL, daughter of Opal M. (Shaw) Davis Mitchell and the late Joseph Davis. She lived in Granby for 33 years moving to Florida 12 years ago. Besides her husband and mother she leaves four sons, Gerald and his wife Donna Blair of East Granby, Alvin and his wife Kelley Blair of Granby, Daniel Blair of Southwick MA, and Michael and his wife Cheryl Blair of Westfield, MA; five daughters, Janet and her husband David Perry of East Granby, June and her husband William Yourous of Granby, Robin Maciag of Meriden, Sheila Higgins of Monson, MA, Lisa and her husband Brad Christopher of Dyersville, IA; 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She leaves a sister Shirley Pipkins of FL; a half brother Stephen Mitchell of FL; and a half sister Sandra Kelley of KY. Besides her father she was predeceased by a daughter Marilyn Jane (Blair) Parmelee and an infant son Richard Kenneth Blair. The funeral will be held Saturday January 21st, 8:15 a.m. from the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 9 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church, Tariffville. Burial will be in the Granby Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Home Health Service and Hospice, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105.
