This is the grave of "JAMES FRANK ADAMS" born to Henry Jackson Adams and Amonia Iowa McNiece Adams of Garden City, Cullman County, Alabama, and that is where "Frank" was born. By personal interviews of his immediate family, Frank changed his name from "James Frank Adams" to James Smith to hide himself from his then estranged wife, Susie, and so that if something happened to him, his family would get the benefits from his death, and not his ex-wife. Sadly, at his death in Corregidor, he died under the name of "James Smith" and even though the family tried to get his records changed to reflect his real name, the Army would not do so. Thus Frank Adams was also known as James Smith.
