Mr. Amos was born in Danville on September 8, 1921 a son of the late Elija Boatwright Amos & Mollie Sue Davidson Amos. He had lived most of his life in Danville except for the 20 years he served his country with 17 of the 20 being served overseas. He joined the U.S. Army on January 3, 1943 and was discharged on December 25, 1945. He re-enlisted in May of 1948 and served until January 1, 1967. Mr. Amos served in Campaigns in Normandy, Northern France & Central Europe and received 4 Battle Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, the Presidential Unit Citation and the Combat infantry Badge with 2 Stars.


Mr. Amos was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church where he was a member of the Chapel Bible Class and a former choir member and he was a member of the V.I.P. Group of Riveroak Church of God and he was a member of American Legion Post 325 & V.F.W Post 647. Mr. Amos is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
