Pamela Barten Kraai, age 49, of Manhattan, died suddenly at her home on Sunday, May 10, 2009. She is survived by her husband John "Duke" Kraai; her daughter, Katie Kraai; her step-children, Kris Ann (John) Tolas and John B. Kraai both of Las Vegas; her step-grandchildren, Jake and Jared Tolas; her sister, Patty (Fiancé, Ray Pruitt) Proper of Romeoville; her brother, Paul "PJ" (Patty) Barten of Jerseyville, Il, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Millie Pastore Barten. Pam was a graduate of Joliet Junior College Nursing Program class of 1996, she was most recently employed by the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno, she was the INA President for the Illinois Veterans and served the Village of Manhattan as a Trustee for eleven years. Prior to her nursing career, she worked as a Veterinarian Technician for fifteen years. Pam loved animals and was a strong supporter of the Missouri Valley College Rodeo Team. Funeral service for Pam Kraai will be 10:00A.M., Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Forsythe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8:00P.M. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
