Alice is the daughter of Fannie Maner and Civil War Veteran, Daniel Shorter. On September 1st 1886, she married John W Tuggle (b.Dec. 1871 in Ky).
John and Alice are parents to Lida (wife of William Harris); Laura (wife to #1 Matt Mays, #2 James Burgess); Daniel (husband to #1 Margaret Harris, #2 Mary Gibson); Alex (husband to Sarah McVey), Lucy (wife of William Stikeleather), and Janie (wife of John H. Burgess).
Alice was laid to rest, with her father and other members of the Shorter family, in Johnson Cemetery, in Heidrick, Knox County. Her headstone, which was encased in a wooden frame has been removed, leaving only the frame with her name scratched into added cement, as Alice Shorter. Since her father is interred in this place, with his stone left standing, I can only assume, the nearby site is that of his daughter Alice.
