Married to Herman Berssenbruegge (parents are unknown) on 31 Oct 1875 at Hamilton County, Ohio. Herman died on 27 Apr 1876 at Hamilton County, OH.

Amelia was remarried to Charles Martin Van Duzen (son of Abraham Van Duzen and Johanna Kellogg) on 07 Aug 1878 at Hamilton County, Ohio. They had two children; a daughter Katherine and a son Abram (whom they called "Bud"). Amelia was also step-mother to Harrie Warren Van Duzen, Charles' son by his deceased first wife.

When her second husband Charles died of tuberculosis in 1906, Amelia purchased a large family plot at Spring Grove Cemetery, Section 71, Lot 10. She had Charles first wife Mary R. Wilson Van Duzen removed from the plot of her brother-in-law (Benjamin Cadwell Van Duzen) and reinterred next to Charles. She also had his son Andrew moved to the family plot from Section 29 of Spring Grove, as well as his infant daughter Maryella, who was also buried in Section 29 in 1867.

Amelia died at the family home at North & Beech Streets in Southgate, KY, she was 73 years old. She was buried next to her husband Charles on 21 Jul 1923.
