Married first wife Mary R. Wilson (daughter of Andrew Wilson and Amelia Downing) on 24 Oct 1860 at Campbell County, Kentucky. They had three children; only one survived to adulthood. Mary passed away Oct. 20, 1871 at their home in Newport, KY from tuberculosis.

Charles was remarried to Amelia Grossman Berssenbrugge (daughter of Andrew Grossman and Catherine Grueninger) on 07 Aug 1878. They had two children together.

Charles worked as a pattern maker for the Buckeye Bell Foundry/The E.W. Vanduzen Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, which was owned by his older brother Ezra Williams Van Duzen.

Charles passed away as a result of tuberculosis at his home at 158 Main Street in Clifton (now South Newport), KY.

VAN DUZEN - Charles M., beloved husband of Amelia Van Duzen, Thursday, February 8, aged 73 years, 8 months and 17 days. Funeral Sunday, February 11, from Salem M.E. Chapel, Clifton Heights, Newport, Ky. Interment at Spring Grove.
