Mom & Dad married on June 15, 1946 in St. Louis, MO and had 4 children: 3 sons and myself. They became loving grandparents of Jarrod, Nicole, Sheila, Michael and Julia.
Mom was such an awesome and loving woman who had such a zest for life and loved people! She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend! When she passed away, she left all of us with so many incredible memories of her Godly life and we have missed her so much over the years. She also positively impacted numerous individuals while being an Avon Representative in her community for over 23 years. We all miss and love you so much, Mom!!
Her obituary shared: "Helen Smith Alcorn, 70, of Bridgeton, Mo., died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 24, 1995, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis. Helen was born Oct. 6, 1925 in Ellsinore, the daughter of the late Wiley and Frona Link Smith. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
On June 15, 1946, she married Scottie Alcorn. He survives. Other survivors include three sons, Timothy S. Alcorn, Paul L. Alcorn of St. Louis and David K. Alcorn of Atlanta; one daughter, Kathleen Alcorn Hitt of Atlanta; five grandchildren; two sisters, Annabelle Fulford of Ellsinore and Louise Johnson of St. Louis; three brothers, Wiley Smith of Senath, James Smith and Bill Smith, both of St. Louis. One sister, Elizabeth Holmes, preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1995.
The funeral was held at Kutis Chapel in Affton on Wednesday, Dec. 27, with Rev. Earl Worley officiating. Burial was in St. Trinity Cemetery in St. Louis."
