Michael Korotitsch, of Delanson NY, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2010 in Schenectady NY. Born in the Ukraine, September 6, 1932 to Iwan and Anna Korotitsch, Michael and his family survived great hardships that included surviving German Internment camps during World War II and subsequent loss of their home and possessions to Communist rule under Stalin. In the early 1950s Michael, his sister Maria, parents, and grand parents immigrated to the United States initially settling in the farming community of Richmondville, NY. Soon thereafter Mike and his family permanently settled in the Village of Delanson NY.
Michael went on to serve the United States during the Korean War where he learned, developed, and excelled in the field of electronics. Upon, honorably being discharged from the Army, Mike built and ran his own television repair shop in Delanson NY for many years. Michael eventually went on to work in Albany NY repairing electronics until his retirement in the mid 90s.
Throughout his life, Mike was passionately involved with HAM radio, target shooting, and construction building. Mike loved to garden as well as feed and watch the birds and wild life that roamed near his country home. Mike was also very much a tinkerer loving to take things apart and put them back together to gain a better understanding of how things worked and often adding his own improvements. Mike was a self described minimalist often stating that he was amazed by the prosperity of the USA, and how relatively easy it was to acquire the simplest things to maintain happiness. Mike often stated how thankful he was that he and his family got to live in the greatest country in the world.
Mike is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughter Sandra and her husband Matt, sons including Michael, Bill and his two Children Jessie and Anna, David, Robert and his wife Linnea. Excellent friends of Michael include Mr. Bruce Barton and Ms. Joan Marx of whom Mike referred to as adopted family.

Mike's real birthday was 6/9/1930, but when he came to America, they confused the month and day and for some reason wrote 1932 instead of 1930. He decided to keep his new birthday 9/6/1932 rather than rock the boat.
Mike did many things in his life, but most importantly was an electronics genius and owner and operator of Mike's TV Repair shop where he sold and repaired TVs, radios, stereos, VCRs, cash registers, computers. Mike could repair virtually anything electronic and loved to build new inventions - just to see if it could be done.
