Mrs. Jane Mayfield, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at her home in Mineral Ridge, at 12:30 o'clock Wednesday noon, July 5th. She had been confined to her bed for the past two years with paralysis and other infirmities due to old age. Deceased was born in Kentucky and was in her ninety fifth year at the time of her death. She came to Boone county fifty six years ago and settled at Mineral Ridge where she had resided continuously since. She leaves six children, Tom, Gilbert, John, Randolph and Maggie of Mound City, Missouri, and Harriet of Colorado. The four sons were present at her death. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Scoggin, of Pilot Mound, and the remains laid to rest in the Mineral Ridge cemetery beside her husband, who died eighteen years ago.
