MISS JOSEPHINE MEEKER
Washington, Dec. 30. - Miss Josephine C. Meeker,
daughter of the late N.C. Meeker, died this morning of pneumonia. She was a clerk in the Interior Department and was held in high esteem.

Miss Meeker was the youngest daughter of the late N. C. Meeker, who was murdered in the fall of 1879 during an outbreak of the Utes
and at the White River Agency. When attempting to escape from the agency Miss Meeker and her mother were taken prisoners by the Indians, and they remained in captivity for twenty-three days, being released at last by General Adams.
