Belden Whitmarsh – Funeral services for Belden Whitmarsh, 64, Russell, were Saturday, Oct. 31, 1981, at 2 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Russell with Rev. Donald Meyers, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, officiating. Burial was in the South Russell Cemetery.
Mr. Whitmarsh died Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1981) in the A. Barton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg.
Surviving are his wife, Muriel; five sons, Arthur, Seattle, Wash., Frederick, Russell, and Belden, Sidney and Wayne, all of Cortland; a daughter, Susan Whitmarsh, Tupper Lake; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whitmarsh was born in Fayetteville on July 13, 1917, son of Forest and Flora Kellogg Whitmash. He married Muriel Manning on June 30, 1938 in the Russell Methodist Church.
He worked in the Benson and Clifton Mines and was also head custodian for the Knox Memorial Central School for the past several years, retiring in 1980.
Mr. Whitmarsh was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church.
