Funeral service for John H. Singleton, 79, Harrison, was Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Jackman Kercheval Meyers Funeral Home, Harrison. Visitation preceded the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Singleton, a retired school teacher in Florida and Ohio, died Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in Harrison. He was a football and basketball coach at Ross High School and Talawanda High School. He was a Marine veteran serving in the South Pacific during World War II and a lifelong member of the VFW.

He is survived by his spouse, Marilyn Pottenger Singleton; children John (Holly) Singleton, Liberty Township, Edward (Leta) Singleton Richmond, Ky., Donna (William) Grigsby, Shelbyville, Ky.; sisters, Martha Moores, Mt. Airy, Ga., and Honey Lou Fischer, Pasadena, Fla.; six grandchildren. and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters, and parents Edward and Sarah Drew Singleton.
