"She graduated from Mapleton High School where she played basketball. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. On December 31, 1932, she married William Wengert Summerwill and moved to Sioux City where she was a member of Junior League. She moved with her husband to Iowa City in 1938 and lived there until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1997.
"In Iowa City she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Chapter KQ, P.E.O. She was a volunteer at Mercy and Veterans' Hospitals. She enjoyed cheering for the Hawkeyes, helping her husband with his hobby of training and showing golden retrievers, playing golf (two holes in one!) and bridge."
