Doris Mae (Cobb) Parsons, 59, of Livingston, Montana, died Friday morning, April 17, 1998 at her home, following a lengtly illness.

Mrs. Parsons was born on December 17, 1938 in Livingston, the daughter of Owen C. and Elizabeth M. Cobb. She was raised by Archie and Alice Cobb in Livingston. She graduated from Park County High School with the class of 1957-1958. On November 15, 1957 she married Bozeman native Richard Parsons in Livingston, and they were later divorced. Over the years she held many jobs throughout the Livingston area, but was mostly devoted to her children.

She was a strong advocate of and active in welfare reform, especially as it pertained to women's rights. She enjoyed writing prose and poetry. Her interests were bowling, fishing and craft work, including crocheting. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include her two sons, Jerry (Sherrie) Parsons and Rick (Amanda) Parsons; two daughters, Lorna (Gary) Stremcha and Dairene (Terry) Ricci; two sisters, Betty (Don) Hanson and Dorothy Domke; brother Jim Cobb; mother Alice Case; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jerome Owen Cobb in 1942.

Visitation was held at the Franzen Davis Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, April 20th and from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, April 20th at 2 p.m. in the Franzen Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Thomas officiating.
Music was provided by by pianist Sandy Thomas and by recorded selections of "On Eagles Wings" by Tracy Wakefield and "Amazing Grace" by Laci Solomon. Honorary pallbearers were Don Hanson, Jim Zentner, Tor Pedersen, Rich Ayers, Kenny Zentner, Russell Tinsley and Ralph Tinsley.

Cremation followed the service and graveside committal and burial of the cremated remains took place at a later date in Mountain View Cemetery.

Memorials were directed to Gateway Hospice in Livingston.

Franzen Davis Funeral Home and Cremation Service assisted the family with arrangements.
