Col. Hood was an eminent Gadsden attorney, civic leader and one of the three incorporators of Alabama Power Company in 1906 as well as author of it's charter. For 35 years he was closely associated with William Lay in the developement of electric power in Alabama. His house is on the National Register of Historic Places: 862 Chestnut St. Gadsden, AL.
His Law firm was Hood and Murphree Attorneys in the Stocks Building.
1929-30 Gadsden City Directory lists him:

The Big War Parade was held on Nov. 11, 1918 to celebrate victory over Germany. Mr. Hood was one of the aids to the selected parade Marshall, Judge L.L. Herzberg. This was the biggest event ever in Etowah County. Schools, factories and even stores closed.
