Mike served his country during WWII and the Korean War with the United States Marines.
He followed his father into the city of Wilmington Fire Department in 1952.
He rose through the ranks, serving in many capacities including fire marshall to become a deputy chief, finally retiring in 1984 as one of the most respected firefighters ever to serve in the department.
He was responsible for numerous advancements in the department including creating its union by founding the Delaware chapter of the International Association of Firefighters, Local #1590. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at the beach.
