He was born in Port Penn Delaware in 1827 and was a farmer. He moved to Wilmington, Delaware about 1882. He died in 1897 and was buried in Lombardy Cemetery along with wife Annie Matilda Gibison. He was a veteran of the Civil War. He served for three years in the 1st Delaware Cavalry, Company C. He and the rest of Company C saw action against JEB Stuarts Cavalry on June 29, 1863 in Westminster , Maryland.
