Mrs. Ernestina Hochmuth, aged resident of this city, passed away at the Alton hospital Tuesday evening at 6:30 o'clock. Mrs. Hochmuth had been a patient there for the past two and a half months. She was aged 85 years, 7 months and 4 days.
Mrs. Hochmuth, whose maiden name was Hamm, was born in Zwickau, Saxony, Germany, on December 5, 1860. In 1882 she came to this country, and the following year, on 18 Jan 1883, she was united in marriage to Frank Hochmuth in Staunton, IL. To this union eight children were born, four of them preceding the mother in death. Mr. Hochmuth died in January 1913.
