Musician. Born Moran Lee Boggs, he was a singer, songwriter and banjo player. His style of play is considered a unique combination of old time mountain music and blues, that was influential to many African-American musicians. In the 1920s, he was offered a contract to record with Brunswick in New York. There he recorded eight songs "Sugar Baby," "Down South Blues," "Country Blues," "Sammie Where Have You Been So Long," "Danville Girl," "Pretty Polly," "New Prisoner's Song" and "Hard Luck Blues." After these sessions, he never recorded for Brunswick again. In the 1960s, his music was re-discovered by Mike Seeger of the New Lost City Ramblers and as a result Boggs enjoyed a come back of sorts during the Folk revival era.
