Pansy Ellen Cook Durre
1925 - 2012
Pansy Durre, 86, passed quietly in her sleep on August 11, 2012. She lived a very long and full life serving everyone she met. Many have said that she had never met a stranger. She was always able to light up any room and bring a smile to any face. She played many roles in her life; Daughter, Sister, Student, Wife, Mother, Teacher, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and a wonderful friend. Overall, she just wanted to share God's light with everyone that she met.
Pansy was born on November 7, 1925 in Apache, Oklahoma to Olten H. and Vera Cook. She was one of 8 children. She married Gerald E. Durre at Mt. Zion Christian Church on June 27, 1948. Gerald and Pansy served congregations in 19 cities during their 64 years of marriage. Along the way, they had 5 children of their own, 4 boys and the youngest a girl. She claimed 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Pansy received 2 Associate Degrees from Cincinatti Bible Seminary and a Bachelor Degree from Midwest Christian College. She was a mother of five children, a preacher's wife, a choir director, a womens group leader, a public school teach, and always active in church volunteering. She loved children and had a passion for giving. To her final days, she was always reaching out and giving whatever she had to help others. She was truly a servant of the Lord whom she served most faithfully.
She was preceded in death by her 4 sons, Michael, David, Jonathon, and Douglas, as well as her brothers, Ralph and Leo, sister Ruby, grandson Will and great-grandson CJ. They welcomed her home Friday evening to rest after such a long journey. She is probably telling them all about it still.
Pansy's memorial service was held 20 August 2012.
