Lucy Flowers was born June 30, 1858, near Salem, Illinois; passed away at Stroud, Okla., Nov. 9, 1927; age 69 years, 4 months and 9 days.
While yet a small girl Lucy Flowers, with her parents, moved to Aurora, Missouri where at the age of 18 she was married to William Riley Clayton. To this union thirteen children were born, seven girls and six boys, Two boys died in early infancy, one girl dying at the age of 15.
The daughters living are Mrs. S. C. Murphy, of Apache, Oklahoma; Mrs. P. L. Wade, Mrs. Elvis Peyton, Mrs. H. O. Shuff, Julia and Nancie Clayton, all of Stroud, Oklahoma.
The sons are Charlie Clayton, of Casper, Wyoming; Monroe Clayton, of Pauls Valley, Okla.; Riley and Mark Clayton, of Stroud, there were 22 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
William Riley Clayton, the husband and father, passed to his reward Oct. 29, 1917.
Mrs. Clayton, in early life, obeyed the Gospel uniting with the Church of Christ, at Aurora, Mo. Her faith never wavered but was firm to the end.
