♥My maternal 4th great-grandmother♥

Inscription
(on same marker with Francis Clayton)
aged 71 yrs,wife of F. CLAYTON

Marriage
to Francis Clayton 6 Jan 1819 Caldwell, Kentucky

Note: Francis died in Caldwell, Kentucky, in 1839. His name on this headstone was apparently done in memory of him.

Father
James Scott born 1765

Additional Note
Previous trips to Smith Cemetery had been fairly unproductive. The small, old cemetery was almost completely overgrown with vines, bushes, small trees, and tall grasses. A previous volunteer had been unable to find the headstone for Francis and Lucy Clayton. Our trip in 2011 was productive. While attempting to clear the Clayton portion of the cemetery, we discovered that the headstone for Francis and Lucy had been masquerading as a large bush!
