John BAKER. Born in 1784. John died in 1850; he was 66.

On February 2, 1807 when John was 23, he married Nancy DUDLEY. Born in 1791. Nancy died after 1860; she was 69.

They had the following children: Willis, Thomas G., Lucy Owen, John, William, Martin H., and Robert Kimbrough.

In 1787 he moved to plantation, "Steele Run". 1807 KY tax lists John as a county judge in KY. In 1834 moved to MO. In 1838 he was elected one of three Lewis Co. MO Court Justices. He probably fought in the the Battle of New Orleans in 1812 (Hyatt). John & Martin Baker went to MO together.

CENSUS RECORD: 1850 State of MO, Lewis Co, p. 347. John aged 66, born in VA.
John is buried behind their house in Lewis Co. MO, Sec 30 S Hiway E. along with his wife, Nancy, Thomas G. & Cynthia Jane, & Willis & Henrietta.
[The only remaining headstones in the Baker family cemetery belong to Willis Baker and his wife Henrietta Hardy Baker. There are no headstones for John, Nancy, Thomas, or Cynthia.]
