Flora Lois Hausch Penhollow is the daughter of Jacob Fredrich Hausch and Lois Eletharp Curtis. She said she was born in Trumbull, Ohio but her obituairy said Thompson, Ohio. She married Grant Penhollow on September 30, 1886. She was a member of the Christian Church in Perry later in life changing to The Church of Christ in Painesville, Ohio. She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. She and Grant had 6 daughters: Myrtle, Nellie, Floy, Vera, Iris, and Violet along with one son Homer Durant Penhollow.

Her mother, Lois Eletharp Curtis, was the daughter of Truman and Nancy (Bowen) Curtis. Truman was the Truman was the son of Joshua and Sarah (---) Curtis. Joshua was the son of David and Abigail (Woodruff) Curtis of Litchfield County, CT. One of Truman's brothers was Noble D. Curtis of NY and Monroe County, MI. Nancy was the daugher of Asa Bowen.
