Susan and I were dorm-mates during my senior year at Hyles-Anderson College in Crown Point, Indiana. Although with the end of that year, many more would elapse before we spoke or got together again, we remained friends until her death at the age of fifty-three.
It was an enormous heartbreak to Susan that she never married. Exceptionally creative, she was adept at all crafts but was particularly gifted in the area of sewing and needlework. She loved gardening and enjoyed travel.
She had an inquisitive intellect that kept her eager to learn, even if it was a new word or a small skill she could master. Susan was also a committed Christian. She adored her dogs and was a devoted caretaker of all their needs. She left us too young and will always be missed.
Susan passed away peacefully, a victim of cancer, at her parents' home in Inverness, Florida, while in the care of a compassionate hospice team.
