Although I did not know Judi Vest as well as I would have liked, I loved her as a sister in Christ and admired her as a humble Christian lady.

I knew her mainly through her children, specifically her two daughters, who were students of my husband's and who frequently babysat our children.

Tracy and Lisa were and remain excellent examples of Christian womanhood and I know that if their mother were still living on this earth, she would be ever grateful for the life and testimony of these lovely young women.

Judi was the adored daughter of Louis and Virginia Schreiner of Tiffin, Ohio.

At the time of her death at age 47, Judi was survived by her mother, Virginia, as well as by her devoted and beloved husband of 29 years, Charles L. Vest, Jr.

Also surviving Judi were her three children: Tracy (David) Nymeyer; Charles L. "Chad" (Amanda) Vest, III; and Lisa (Tim) Streeter.

Judi was also survived by four grandchildren: Andrea Nymeyer, Deanna Nymeyer, Trent Streeter, and Elisabeth Vest.

In addition she was survived by three sisters: Suzanne (Steve) Gardner, Linda (Sam) McKinney, and Carol (Dick) Hoffman.

Preceding Judi in death were her father, Louis Schreiner; her father-in-law, Charles Vest, Sr.; one child, and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 18, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana.

Dr. Jack Hyles and Dr. Johnny Colsten officiated.

A resident of the Calumet area for 18 years, Mrs. Vest was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hammond where she taught an evening Bible class.

She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society Philippine Circle, and a writer for the Christian Womanhood paper.

I remember Judi as a sterling example of a Christian woman, out of whose life shone love and grace. She is greatly missed but we know she lives in Heaven with her Savior.

Someday soon we will be greeted by Him and by her, and a glorious reunion will take place.

Rather than bemoaning her short life and untimely, tragic death in an automobile accident, Judi would want glory to come to the Lord through it.
