Captain Percival Leathley Browne.

Aged 32.

He was the younger son of the late Rev. Samuel Benjamin Browne, B.A., and his wife Mary née Armitage Browne, then of Rutland House, North Collingham, Newark, Nottingham.
His birth was registered in Bosmere district, Suffolk, in the quarter ended September 1883.
Husband of Joan E. L. née Burton Browne, daughter of Langhorn Burton, of Somersby, Lincolnshire.
Their marriage was registered in Marylebone district, London, in the quarter ended September 1914.

His father Rev. S.B. Browne, was the Rector of St. Mary's Church, Plumtree, Nottingham, between Oct. 1883 and his death on 17th Sept. 1906. He was then aged 75.

Educated at Rugby School.
He joined the 1st Battalion, The Lincolnshire Regiment, from the Militia in May 1902 and was stationed in India until 1910, when he returned to the Depot. Promoted to Captain in 1913, he joined the 2nd Battalion in Bermuda.
He returned home in June 1914 to be married.
At the outbreak of War, he applied for active service, and was initially engaged to train recruits.
The 6th Service) Battalion was dispatched from England on 30th June 1915.
His brigade was landed at Suvla Bay on 6th August.
He was shot in the head during an assault, and died instantly.

Percival's elder brother, Lieut. Montague Bernard Browne who died in Dublin on 30 April 1916 during the Easter Rising, is buried in Deansgrange Cemetery.

There is a memorial to the two Browne brothers in St. Mary's Church, Plumtree, Nottingham.
