Charles Edward “Eddie” Ashby
Charles Edward “Eddie” Ashby, 76, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County. He was born in Henry County on January 19, 1939 to William Andrew Ashby and Vera Martin Ashby. Charles served in the US Army and was employed as a Supervisor with the City of Martinsville. He was a member of the Knights of the Pythian and of the Classic Car Club. He was an avid golfer and fisherman and loved the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Billy Ashby, one sister, Betty Draper and two brothers, Cecil and Bobby Ashby.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Oakes Ashby of the home; two daughters, Anne Washburn of Bassett and Debbie Ball of Chesapeake, one sister, Lois Johnson of Martinsville, one brother Buford Ashby and his wife, Barbara of Martinsville and four grandchildren, Amanda Le and Tran, Casey Upchurch and Jonathan, William Andrew Ball and Lily Ball.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 18, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Martinsville Chapel and other times at the home.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM at McKee-Stone Funeral Home Martinsville Chapel with Dr. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
