Amanda Booher, 47, Florence

Amanda Layne Booher, 47, passed away at her home in Florence, Ky., on the morning of October 10, 2005, where she resided with her parents, Edgar R. and Sally M. Booher. Amanda was born at LaGrange, Ky., on July 4, 1958. She was born with Downs Syndrome and resided with her parents her entire life. Amanda was a sweet and loving child and continued with that same personality throughout her lifetime. She loved her church and had many close friends throughout the country. She lived in various areas during her lifetime having moved with her family when her father was transferred in his work. Amanda attended church regularly and accepted the Lord as her savior at Messiah United Methodist Church, Springfield, Virginia, when she was 21 years old. During the period of 11 years she lived in Virginia, she was the regular acolyte for one of the Sunday church services. Upon her father's retirement in 1990 the family moved back to Northern Kentucky and began attending Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, Ky., Amanda picked up where she left off in Virginia and became a regular acolyte for one of the church services at Immanuel until about 2 years ago when her health began to fail. She enjoyed working at sheltered workshops for the handicapped wherever she lived, and spending time with her friends. She was last employed at BAWAC, a sheltered workshop in Florence, Kentucky, but retired recently due to failing health. She has left many close friends and associates and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is survived by brothers, Benjamin Booher, Florence, Ky., Aaron Joseph Booher Lorton, Va., sister, Lauren Jo Olson, Boardman, Ohio; eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, Ky., at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2005, with Rev. J. Paul Brunstetter, Rev. Dr. Barry K. Carpenter, and Rev. P. Eric Bryant officiating. Music was shared by Joanne Brumm, organist, and vocalists, Will Campbell and Mike Edmunds, and The Chancel Choir. The pallbearers were David Booher, Jacob Booher, Jessica Olson, Erika Olson, Ben Booher, and Joey Booher. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky. Memorials are suggested to the BAWAC Sheltered Workshop, Kentucky Drive, Florence, Ky., or to Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, Kentucky. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, served the family.
