my Papa Floyd's Mama.
Daughter of Chesley Fountain Morris 1840LA-1882b.Beaver,LA. & Martha Ward 1851MS-4/3/1892b.TX-SW of Corsicana,TX. Arsana wife of O.M. Floyd -Mother of Charles Arthur(b.here); Arthur Tom (b.LaurelLand)m.11/28/28 Viola H. Hogle (b.LL);Lannie(F)Moore 7/16/09-5/12/94(b.Kleberg)-m.'27Joseph G. Moore;Cora Lee(F)Sandling(b.Edgewood/Lancaster);m.1937-Albert J. Sandling 7/16/14-3/13/81(b.Edgewood/Lancaster).
Arsana was nearly a grown woman when she arrived in Texas from Louisiana. She had several brothers/sisters. They lived in Navarro County area -- Ward and Morris county lived - 10 miles SW of Corsicana along the extinct St Louis and SW Railroad line near the little town, now extinct, called Jester Switch.
Siblings: Zebedee b.1879; Miranda b.1884; Delaney b.?; Lowzana b.? ---- It was said that Arsana & Zeb bought a lot of land close to Jester's Switch 50/50. But family could not locate docs @ courthouse.
My Papa Floyd always said that my Mother, Patricia M. Floyd (Dodd) looked just like his Mother, Arsana. His mother was known to be kind, and gentle and loved her flower garden. She died of influenza and TB at the Floyd Farm 2 miles north of Lancaster.
Short Story: Papa (Arthur) Floyd would tell how he was his Mama's favorite child -- so he would aggravate the sisters... he would bite himself on the leg and fall down and commence to bawling..Mama would come out on the porch and ask who did it? He would say either Lannie or Cora did it!! Mama would whup'em real good with a switch!!! He did it for pure meanness!!!In later years, the sisters called him "Brother" very affectionately!!!
