Two infants of Emory Augustus & Martha Amanda Matlock Gracey buried here per book, Lisbon West of the Trinity 1865-1870 before Emory Gracey and Sam Sloan founded town of Lisbon with school and cemetery in 1870. Children died while Emory and Martha lived on 100 ac.tract in Smith Elkins Abstract 430 that her father Absalom C Matlock (d.1865)and mother Nancy Harris Matlock (d.1862) purchased from Thomas H. and wife Martha Harris in 1857.

The children were buried at Floyd-Taylor Cemetery as the Family lived on a homestead in this area. Emory moved his family north about 3 miles - near modern day Ann Arbor Rd and Lancaster Rd. intersection and founded the communith of Lisbon. It has since been incorprorated into the City of Dallas.

Emory was a prominent man of hs time. Well respected.
One of the founders of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church up by what is now I-35 and Illinois Ave. (That vicintiy of southwest Dallas- Oak Cliff).He donated the land for a chucrch, school and the Lisbon Cemetery. Church likely Cumberland Presbyterian Church.


It has been an honor to create and maintain the Gracey Infant's Memorial.
