Mary Leuttia Oliver departed this life on Earth to eternal life in Heaven on December 16, 2002. She was 88 years of age.

Mary was born on July 3, 1914 to Walter and Jennie Briles in Coffeeville, Kansas. Also born to this union were younger siblings consisting of two brothers, Franklin (Frank) and Elmer and one sister, Beulah Smith. Mary’s parents and Frank preceded her in death.

Mary as a young child came with her parents to Baca County, Colorado in 1915. They established a home South of Pritchett, Colorado. She attended Sunnyside School near their country home and later graduated from Pritchett High School in 1931. She attended college in Greeley, Colorado. During the depression of 1935, Mary went to Santa Anna, California to help in her foster grandmother’s boarding house.

Mary was married to Eldred Leroy Oliver on October 31, 1938 in Santa Anna, California. Eldred preceded her in death in 1994. Six children were born to this marriage of 55 years: Harold Franklin of Springfield, Colorado; Donald Leroy (Penny) of Parker, Colorado; Delbert Gene (Robin) of Liberal, Kansas; Melvin Ray (Lorraine) of Rangely, Colorado; Dale Edwin of Anton, Colorado and Eunice Marie (Ernie Rivale) of Holly, Colorado, all of which survive her. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In 1943, Mary returned to Baca County with her husband Eldred to establish their farm home South of Pritchett. In 1968, Mary and Eldred moved the family home to the town of Pritchett. She lived there until the time of her death. She was an employee of the Pritchett School from 1965 to 1984 as a cook in the cafeteria.

Mary will be remembered for her patience and kindness. She always had a positive attitude and was supportive to all who knew her. She will be remembered for her abiding love of family and friends. Mary was a member of the First Church of God of Pritchett. She will be missed by all who knew her.
